Time on the bike

Time spent on the bike, that is what makes it all work. Makes what work you ask ? Life, that's what. It may sound too dramatic for some but if you love to bike, you should be able to relate to the above statement. Maybe you have gotten into a rut, working long hours at a busy exhausting job, busy enough to make you tired but not active in the way that keeps you from stacking on those extra pounds. Perhaps your long gym workouts are good but you need to add an extra dimension to your activity level. Maybe you have not been on a bike in years or maybe you are staring at your very expensive collection of top end wheeled beauties gathering dust. Whatever your scenario biking can help, but you have to pedal. Barring doctors orders and physical disqualifications if you can bike, you should. Pedaling helps to clear the mind, cleanse the body, and soothe the soul. Great rides are nothing short of a spiritual experience. I forgot to mention fun, great rides are fun also. Share one with a friend or friends, take a long ride by yourself, or sign up for group rides every chance you get. You will be a better person for it believe me. I won't talk to much about me in this post but I will say that when I started biking again almost 10 years ago, after a prolonged absence from the sport my cigarettes and lighter where neatly packed next to the inner tubes and patch kit. I carried an extra 60 pounds above my current weight and had never heard of Spd's, Froggy's or Look Pedals. Thanks to friends who encouraged me by getting their ride on and helping me to get my ride on, I am a happier, healthier (smoke free) person today. You should do that for someone too, help them out by getting them into biking. Most will thank you for it, (some might curse you), but most will thank you. Happy 2008 !! Make it a good one and Pedal.
